NO Fear

When my children tell their grandchildren about the COVID-19 pandemic years from now, what will they tell them?

I’m sure they will say how they had friends on the front lines of fighting the virus as nurses and doctors and what a serious threat going to work every day was.

They will surely tell them how their gramma/great gramma stayed busy in her garden, crocheted lots of different things, butchered meat birds for meals and worked tirelessly to remind her grandchildren who were living with her and Papa at the time to turn off lights, clean up after themselves and put away the Nerf bullets that lay everywhere after a war with their dad.

Perhaps they will recount how because this was a novel virus, no one really knew how to deal with it and after months of differing ideas and orders, the people in some states were declaring their independence and Constitutional rights to have their businesses back open and not have to be jailed because they just wanted to work and feed their families.

Will they recount how the economy crashed?  How liquor stores and Planned Parenthood were considered ‘essential’ businesses but churches and AA meetings were ‘non-essential.’  Will they say that they watched daily as freedoms were chipped away and an elite group of wealthy businessmen worked in conjunction with the WHO to execute a plan for population control?  Will they tell them how China’s communist party lied to the people of the world regarding where the coronavirus originated?  Or that the media in this country used multiple tactics to stir people into a frenzy of fear by exacerbating the facts, how tech companies censored freedom of speech, deeming contrary ideas as ‘dangerous’?  How for four years a certain party worked tirelessly to impeach the president and failed and that maybe, by the time their grandchildren are grown, the real truth will be revealed about who was responsible for all of it.

Whatever they tell their children’s children, my prayer is that they themselves will search for the truth, live the truth, and die free.  I pray they articulate clearly how this life is a breath and eternity is worth investing serious consideration.

As I’ve been comparing the invisible virus with mankind’s invisible enemy, Satan, I believe he has been having a heyday with people’s lives and I honestly believe too many Christians have been playing cards with him and losing.

When do we decide to put fear down and elevate faith in a God who made our bodies and created us to enjoy all things?

I recognize EVERYONE is wrestling with all of this. But wrestling with the unseen takes having spiritual eyes to see the enemy and how to defeat his tactics, one step at a time…or maybe take a leap of faith and trust Him to catch us.

In the words of William Wallace, in a movie my husband says is too graphic for me to watch:

” “Every man dies, but not every man truly lives.” “All men die, but not all men really live.”

Just my thoughts…take ’em or leave ’em…it’s a free country.  Well, at least right now it sort of is.
